Summary: Responsible for planning and implementing daily classroom lesson plans and ensuring the health and safety of children in the classroom in partnership with the assistant teacher by performing the following duties:

- Coordinates developmentally-appropriate curriculum schedules and maintains requirements for licensing and YoungStar accreditation. *
- Greets children and parents or guardians in an enthusiastic manner each day. *
- Monitors and observes the daily operation of the classroom for safety, positive interaction, and productive educational activity. *
- Oversees and facilitates the general safety of the classroom environment and its activities to include outside play. *
- Promotes and fosters each child’s positive self-esteem and individual development toward his/her fullest potential in the areas of physical, social, emotional, approaches to learning, language, communication, and cognitive growth. *
- Monitors talents, special abilities, disabilities, deficiencies, or problems of each individual child, documents issues/concerns as needed in log book, and notifies management. *
- Addresses, monitors, and documents issues, concerns, and problems of each individual child and discusses with assistant teacher/management. *
- Develops and maintains a positive and confidential relationship with the parents of every child, including thorough communication about the program and each child’s progress. *
- Encourages parent interest and involvement in the program and seeks a partnership with parents. *
- Maintains confidentiality at all times both within and outside the center. *
- Applies knowledge of sound early childhood education, development concepts, and principles within the goals and philosophy of the school. *
- Completes children’s evaluations as required and maintains accurate knowledge of documentation in children’s files. *
- Mentors new employees to classroom routines. *
- Adheres to all established policies, procedures, and code of ethics. *
- Participates in required training programs, conferences, courses, or other aspects of professional growth. *
- Attends staff meetings as required. *
- Reports any suspicion of child abuse or neglect to the appropriate party for follow-through. *
- Plans and prepares developmentally appropriate lesson plans and submits in accordance with administrative guidelines to director or curriculum coordinator a weekly basis. *
- Interacts with children through instructional methods to include play, music, arts and crafts, literacy, writing, technology, and physical activities. *
- Assists children when necessary to enhance learning skills and complete projects. *
- Prepares thorough evaluations for each child two times per year or as needed and meets with parents during the year as needed. *
- Establishes and maintains positive interpersonal relationships with all children, parents/guardians, and fellow staff. *
- Assists children with general hygiene practices including bathroom and cleanliness needs. *
- Shares pertinent information, suggestions, or ideas with management and co-workers on a regular basis. *
- Supervises daily activities of assistant teacher when necessary. *
- Documents daily activities of children on appropriate paperwork. *
- Performs daily general cleaning duties. *
- Maintains equipment and materials in a safe and efficient manner. *
- Maintains classroom and storage areas in a neat and orderly manner. *
- Teaches according to center methods. *
- Offers appropriate support to students through a positive attitude. *
- Alerts management to any programming concerns and discusses suggested program changes. *
- Maintains appropriate noise levels. *
- Performs any other job duties as assigned.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Paychex Flex, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Safari.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in early childhood education.

Certificates and Licenses:
- Must meet YoungStar and licensing requirements, and abide by the guidelines set forth by the Wisconsin Department of Children & Families - Division of Early Care Education.
- CPR Certification

- Maintains 25 hours for full-time, or 15 hours for part-time, of continuing education credits on an annual basis
